Centro de Fomento a Iniciativas Económicas (FIE-Bolivia) is a not-for-profit civil association, founded in 1985 in response to the credit needs of the low-income population with no access to the traditional commercial banking system. In 1998, the Fondo Financiero Privado Fie S.A. was incorporated as a regulated microfinance entity. In 2001. Fie Gran Poder S.A. was founded in Argentina, a microcredit institution which aims to provide this service to the migrant population from Bolivia and other neighboring countries living in Argentina, which has no access to formal sources of credit.
